Books on Economics and Finance
You can add to your knowledge of economics and finance in the new year with these titles.
The Library of Congress categorizes the social sciences under Class H. I’ve covered some social science titles in a previous post on cultural issues.
In this post, I share about my books in the subclasses HB, HC, HC, and HF on economics and the subclass HF on finance. I’ve also included some juvenile/teen titles and a few economic humor books. In my next library update, I’ll cover marriage and family books.

Whatever Happened to Penny Candy: A Fast, Clear, and Fun Explanation of the Economics You Need For Success in Your Career, Business, and Investments

In Spite of the Gods: The Rise of Modern India
I read this book to learn more about India while we waited to bring our daughter home (Gotcha Day, December 9, 2009). It’s a fascinating look at a part of the world Americans know little about.

Reskilling America: Learning to Labor in the Twenty-first Century
This book is categorized in the Education class, but I believe it also fits under Labor. The authors explain how American schools need to focus more on the trades and allow more high schoolers to get hands-on blue-collar training like German students do. Reading it helped me guide my son to enter trade school after he completed high school.
